Sometimes. And in the past better than the present. There are things one can do when one has time that one cannot do in the middle of life, tugged at by commitments to family and work. I haven't completely given up drawing, but I don't spend the hours I used to spend. We prioritize.
I was recently contacted by the manager of Kate Braverman's website to see if I would allow my drawings of her to be used (done back in 1984). I was, of course, honored. I think Kate is one of our great writers. She hides poetry in everything she does. She literately takes your mind places it neither expects, nor was meant to go. After reading a novel or poem by her, you are changed.
Well, my portraits of her on now on her site. I hope her readers and fans enjoy them.
You can see the portraits here:
http://www.katebraverman.com/citylights.html
We all need to be reminded that our value is not defined by those who employ us, but by the life we bring to the work we do.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-02-20T04:13:02Z</dcterms:modified>
